You will have an exclusive experience on this trek. The trail traverses untouched villages like Dole and Thame, crosses the Nogzumpla glacier moraine (the biggest glacier in Nepal), and takes you to stunning Gokyo Lakes.

Renjo La Pass (5,340 m/17,519 ft) is the highest point on this trek and also the most challenging. Crossing this pass will make you feel a huge achievement. You will be surrounded by nothing but tranquility and towering mountains.

Likewise, as you trek to the fourth and fifth Gokyo Lakes, you will be amazed by the stunning beauty and serenity of the Himalayas. If you are an experienced trekker or looking for a bit of a challenging trek in the Everest region, then the Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek is a fantastic option.

Overall, you will experience the true magnificence of the Himalayas while trekking to the Gokyo Lakes, which is lacking on the famous trekking routes because of high commercialization and crowds. This trek is also a great option for discovering places beyond the famous EBC.

Bookings are open for the Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek 2025 and 2026 departures.

What can you expect during the Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek?

The Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek route is offbeat. You will walk on many steep and rocky sections. The journey starts from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. You will fly to Lukla from Kathmandu and start trekking from there.

While trekking, you will pass by beautiful mountain villages inhabited by Sherpa, Rai, Lama, and other Nepali communities. The trail will be bustling until Namche Bazaar, where you will see many fellow trekkers, as it is the main route to EBC.

Spend two nights in Namche Bazaar, acclimatizing and resting. From here, follow a less crowded route to the Gokyo Valley. The terrain will gradually get bumpy. You will enjoy peaceful trails and stunning mountain vistas.

On the way, explore ancient monasteries and see the daily life of the locals. Do not feel shy to talk to the locals. They are welcoming and always look forward to talking to trekkers. Enjoy nature, beautiful landscapes, and lovely sunrises and sunsets.

Mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Island Peak, Cholatse Peak, etc, will dominate the skyline. Similarly, the surreal beauty of the Gokyo Lakes is unbelievable too.
